Artist Among Poets I learned Throughout the course of this class, I’ve discovered a new perspective of poetry. I use to think of poetry as simply lyrically wrapped words into beautiful statements. I could not be further from the truth, as poets hold much more ability in their craft. From distilling their perspective of life into verses, their poetry takes on a new language of emotion. Allowing the audience to think and feel like they do, poets are craftsmen of emotion. Through timeless diversity poets stand up to issues and break stigmas through words. Dismantling perceptions through carefully crafted lines that pierce the mind and bring audience members into a new understanding. This new perspective not only brought a deeper emotional understanding of poetry, but also a history lesson intertwined. As we stepped through the time periods, the classic poems we dug into provided a new understanding of the era and showed us the emotions behind the history. These poems transformed
